SiP는 애플리케이션 전용 Arm Cortex-M33 애플리케이션 프로세서와 완벽한 LTE 모뎀, RF 프론트엔드(Front End) 및 전력관리 시스템을 갖추고 있다. nRF9160은 시장에 공급되는 상용 제품 중 가장 컴팩트하고, 완벽하며, 에너지 효율적인 셀룰러 IoT 솔루션이다. 

 

통합 모뎀은 LTE-M 및 NB-IoT를 모두 지원하며, 지역에 따라 이종 제품을 사용할 필요 없이 전세계적으로 동작이 가능하다. eDRX 및 PSM을 비롯한 모든 절전 기능은 물론, 최대 전송 및 보안(TCP/TLS) 레벨까지 IPv4/IPv6를 지원한다. 모뎀 펌웨어는 안전하고 암호화된 FOTA(Firmware Over The Air) 업데이트를 통해 업그레이드가 가능하다. 

 

Arm Cortex-M33 애플리케이션 프로세서는 1MB 플래시 및 256KB RAM으로 지원되기 때문에 단일 디바이스 기반 솔루션으로 첨단 애플리케이션을 개발할 수 있다. 

 

GPS 수신기는 위치추적 기능을 사용하는 광범위한 애플리케이션을 지원할 수 있도록 다양한 동작 모드를 제공하는 무선에 통합되어 있다. 

 

이외에도 nRF9160은 12bit ADC와 RTC, SPI, I²C, I²S, UARTE, PDM 및 PWM을 비롯해 다양한 범용 인터페이스 및 주변장치를 포함하고 있다. 

 

보안은 메모리 및 주변장치를 비롯한 하드웨어 요소와 펌웨어의 일반 및 보안 영역을 격리 및 보호할 수 있도록 동급 최상의 Arm 트러스트존(TrustZone) 기술을 제공한다. Arm 트러스트존은 성능 저하없이 보안 부팅과 신뢰할 수 있는 펌웨어 업데이트 및 RoT(Root of Trust) 구현을 가능하도록 함으로써 견고하고, 안전한 IoT 애플리케이션을 구현할 수 있도록 해준다.

nRF9160은 모바일 네트워크 사업자와의 연결 및 인증을 위해 SIM 및 eSIM을 모두 지원한다.

The mfw_nrf9160 is the firmware for the modem subsystem of nRF9160. It supports 3GPP LTE
release 13 Cat-M1 and Cat-NB1 standards, and GPS L1C/A positioning.

Cat-M1 operation is enabled on E-UTRA Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25,
26, 28 and 66.

Cat-NB1 operation is enabled on E-UTRA Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25, 26,
28 and 66.
