nRF71 Series
Wi-Fi MCUs for battery-powered IoT
The nRF71 Series is Nordic's family of Wi-Fi MCUs. It brings Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth LE and an application processor together on one chip, so no separate host MCU or Wi-Fi companion IC is needed. The first variants are the dual-band Wi-Fi 6 nRF7120 and the tri-band Wi-Fi 6E nRF7120E.
Low-power Wi-Fi 6
Wi-Fi 6 power-saving features and a dedicated low-power receiver let devices stay connected to the network while drawing very little current between transmissions.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE at the same time
Independent Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE radios with an on-chip coexistence controller let both run at once. This suits Matter over Wi-Fi devices, which use Bluetooth LE for commissioning and Wi-Fi for connectivity.
Edge AI with the Axon NPU
The nRF7120E adds Nordic's Axon neural processing unit (NPU), which accelerates machine-learning inference on the device. Models such as sensor fusion, audio and anomaly detection can run locally, sending only results over Wi-Fi.
nRF Connect SDK
The nRF71 Series is fully supported in nRF Connect SDK, including Wi-Fi station and SoftAP modes, IP networking, cloud connectivity and firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates. Developers get the same workflow they use with the nRF54 and nRF70 Series.
Chip-down or module
Choose the nRF7120 or nRF7120E for chip-down designs. Choose the nRF7120 module for a complete radio design in 10 × 14 mm, with planned modular certification.
