Those decisions are only as good as the measurements that validate them. Obtaining accurate current measurements for a Bluetooth LE product is often harder than it looks. A sample rate that averages away your radio peaks, a debugger still drawing current, leakage on the VDD domain: the number that comes back looks fine. It is just not the one you are after. You spend a week optimizing something that was never the real problem.
