Cellular Connectivity
To connect the nRF9160 DK to the cloud, you need an IoT enabled SIM card that can connect to available networks in your region. The iBasis card included in the kit has coverage in most regions (download coverage map for more information).
If iBasis does not have coverage in your region, please see our cellular connectivity partner page, contact your local Regional Sales Manager or local network operator to purchase a local IoT enabled SIM.
Get started with your nRF9160 DK
Unbox and get your Nordic nRF9160 DK up and running. Note: You can follow the steps in this video even if you have an nRF9160 DK with a different board layout.
Getting started
with development
Go through the next steps in the Getting started with nRF9160 DK documentation.
The documentation goes through the nRF9160 DK hardware and introduces the nRF Connect SDK and the development environment. It also discusses the installation of nRF Connect SDK and programming, testing and debugging an application.
If you want to use the nRF9160 SiP as an LTE modem to evaluate using AT commands quickly, you can flash the precompiled Serial LTE Modem application in the "nRF9160 DK application and modem firmware.zip" file.
Use the Getting started with nRF9160 DK documentation to see how to flash the application and consult the Serial LTE Modem documentation for how to interact with the application.
