The Nordic Thingies are a family of rapid prototyping platforms for IoT applications and Proof of Concept (PoC). They offer developers, engineers, and inventors the ability to put concepts and ideas into practice in a very fast time frame.


PoC is an important step in the product development lifecycle. PoCs are where ideas start to look like products and where products start to take form.


The Nordic Thingy philosophy is to put best-in-class Nordic flagship SoCs at the heart of the Thingy. To complement these SoCs we added many sensors, actuators, and interfaces. Thus giving a wealth of exciting possibilities out-of-the-box.


Thingies support Over the Air Device Firmware Updates (DFU). This means you can upgrade the application and communication stack firmware. You can do this via a mobile device, gateway, or cellular network.


The Thingies are rugged and built to last, they come in a tough polypropylene case and have a removable splash-proof rubber hood. They run from LiPo batteries and dependent on your application can run for months and even years on a single charge. A Thingy has mounting holes on the case, making it ideal for long-term in-situ tests indoors and outdoors.
