nRFready Smart Remote 3 for nRF51 SeriesReference Design - DISCONTINUED

Advanced Bluetooth Low Energy enabled remote control reference design with voice input

The nRFready Smart Remote 3 has been discontinued. Please consider nRFready Smart Remote 3 for nRF52 Series.

The nRFready Smart Remote 3 is a complete Bluetooth® Low Energy enabled remote control reference design for today’s media centers including Smart TVs, set-top boxes (STB) and a wide range of media provision products available in the market today.

Smart Remote 3 is designed to demonstrate the nRF51 Series SoC capabilities. It is a high performance reference design incorporating the advanced features required of today’s remote controls, including remote control button input, 6-axis free space motion sensing, multi-touch trackpad, and voice input for search and commands.

Voice input is offered in this reference design as a robust, low bandwidth solution that is compatible with today’s speech recognition systems.

The reference design is an add-on that works together with the nRF51 Development Kit. An nRF51 DK is required to use this reference design but it is not included and must be purchased separately. The add-on contains all the external sensor devices that can interface with the nRF51 DK. Additionally there is a complete product example remote control included in the kit which can be used directly for evaluation, testing, and demonstration.

All necessary firmware and Host software is provided to implement a full design at both ends of the application. The firmware runs on the nRF51 Series SoCs. Host software supports Linux and Android.

We understand that remote control manufacturers may wish to use either all, or a subset of the hardware and software features. This is supported in our design by modularizing hardware, firmware, and Host side software.
