Nordic has a leading position in Thread/Bluetooth Low Energy multiprotocol. Our nRF52840 SoC and nRF Connect SDK 2.0.2 received the worlds first Thread 1.3 certification badge, that can be easily inherited by our customers and is a prerequisite for Matter over Thread, where Bluetooth LE is used to commission and Thread for data transfer. It is also possible to build a Thread-capable device now and include Matter support later with an update.

We offer excellent documentation and technical support to anyone developing a Thread product with our SoCs. We guide you through the product development process.

Single-board development kits

Development kits

We offer development kits containing what you need to get started with your Thread development. Our kits make all features and GPIOs of the SoCs available to you, including NFC. All kits have LEDs and buttons, enabling you to get output and give input. Our kits come with a SEGGER on-board J-Link debugger.

Dongle

We also offer the nRF52840 Dongle. It is complementary hardware to the nRF Connect for Desktop tool. It supports Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, and Zigbee. It can be a low-cost alternative when doing large-scale testing, or when size is important. Do note that it does not have a debugger on board. We recommend using the development kit for development.

Power measurement

Our Power Profiler Kit II (PPK 2) is the next thing to look at. The PPK 2 is a tool made to measure current consumption. Use it with any of our development kits, prototyping platforms, or your own designs. PPK2 works all the way from sub-µA to 1 A and can log up to 500 days as is.

The nRF52833 DK is a Bluetooth LE, Bluetooth mesh, Thread and Zigbee development kit for the nRF52820 and nRF52833 SoCs.

nRF52840 Dongle

The nRF52840 Dongle is complementary hardware to the nRF Connect for Desktop. It supports Bluetooth 5, Bluetooth mesh, Thread and Zigbee.
