nRF9160 Certifications

Overview

The nRF9160 SiP is certified to operate in the most important regions, networks and LTE bands around the world.

All certifications for the nRF9160 are listed below. These are divided into four main types:

  • Global: The GCF and PTCRB are global certifications that are designed to ensure compatibility with the LTE 3GPP specification so that the device can communicate with the eNBs (base stations) using LTE-M or NB-IoT.

  • Regulatory: The regulatory certifications are regional in nature and are required in order to use radio equipment in a region.

  • Mobile network operator (MNO): Some MNOs have their own certification programs. Most MNOs do not require other certifications than GCF or PTCRB.
