Nordic Semiconductor has been named one of Europe's Climate Leaders 2023 by Financial Times in partnership with Statista. Nordic ranked number 26 with a score of 75.1 points, making it the highest-ranked Norwegian company on the prestigious list of 500 companies.
“I am honored to witness the recognition we have received for our dedication and initiatives toward promoting sustainable development,” says Linda Pettersson, SVP Legal & Compliance, Chair of Nordic Semiconductor ESG Committee. “This ranking confirms that we are progressing in the right direction.”
The methodology for this third edition of Europe’s Climate Leaders was tightened to reflect the increasing scrutiny from consumers and regulators faced by companies over their environmental performance. Performance was calculated based on the reduction of core greenhouse gas emissions intensity over a five-year period, as well as transparency on disclosing emissions that arise elsewhere within a company’s value chain.
The EU and the U.K. have both set a target of 2050 to achieve net zero emissions. Last summer was the hottest ever recorded in Europe and this year southern Europe is already being afflicted by drought.
“It remains critical that Nordic continues to prioritize ESG [environmental, social, and governance] considerations,” continues Pettersson. “The company continuously strives towards reducing its environmental impact in the execution of its strategic objectives.”
