TYMIQ’s Prylada IoT Gateway employs Nordic nRF9160 SiP for LTE-M connectivity between device and Cloud platform

An IoT gateway solution developed by German IoT solutions provider, TYMIQ, sits at the heart of its asset monitoring and data acquisition platform. The platform is designed for a wide array of applications including logistics and asset tracking, sensor network management, smart building automation, smart agriculture, predictive maintenance, and factory automation.

The ‘Prylada IoT Gateway (ADH-02)’ provides a set of connection interfaces allowing telemetry data to be gathered from a variety of sensors including temperature, humidity, light, liquid leak, air quality, movement detection, and more. The device employs the computational power of the Nordic nRF9160 SiP’s 64 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M33 application processor to oversee the sensors and collate the relevant data.

Easy to adjust for specific requirements

The onboard interfaces can be extended thanks to Prylada IoT Gateway’s modular device architecture. This makes it easy to assemble and adjust the 171 by 121 by 55 mm, IP65-rated waterproof gateway to specific requirements, as well as scale the network.

The collected sensor data can be wirelessly transferred from the gateway to central monitoring software for analysis and visualization. The nRF9160 SiP’s integrated multimode LTE-M/NB-IoT modem and GNSS enables the data to be securely transmitted to the proprietary Cloud portal, ‘Prylada Cloud’ (a private Cloud or an on-premises server, depending on the customer’s requirements), via a cellular IoT network.

Over-the-air firmware updates

In addition to telemetry processing, the remote control and configuration of the gateway is managed via the Prylada Cloud admin panel, which also allows customers to automatically update the device firmware over-the-air. The Prylada IoT Gateway can be powered via dual-source prioritized power supply input that enables built-in battery back-up functionality.
