Nordic Semiconductor to grow Singapore presence with opening of representative office

Nordic Semiconductor today announces the opening of a representative office in Singapore allowing the company to develop a deeper understanding of the city-state’s market and customer base for short-range wireless and low power cellular IoT solutions. Singapore has long been an important market for Nordic in Southeast Asia, and the extended local presence will build on this established history by developing stronger relationships with potential customers, researching demand for wireless IoT solutions, and providing close-to-hand support for all product-related enquiries.  

IoT growing quickly 

Nordic’s increased presence in Singapore comes at a time when the city-state is rapidly accelerating its adoption of IoT technologies. According to a recent report by Vodafone Business, nearly half of all businesses in Singapore have already deployed some form of IoT technology, and of those, nearly 86 percent plan to ramp up their IoT projects in 2021. A similar number of companies said the IoT had risen up their list of priorities in the last 12 months. Of specific IoT market verticals, commercial healthcare, logistics, metering, and gateway solutions are enjoying continued growth in Singapore, while traditional consumer applications, in particular wearables, remain a powerful driver of the adoption of wireless tech solutions. 

To head up the office, Nordic has appointed Keane Wong as Regional Manager - Singapore. Wong has previously worked in a wide range of technical engineering and marketing roles in the region, and as such is well placed to provide potential customers with the necessary support to assess the suitability of Nordic’s portfolio of short-range wireless and low power cellular IoT connectivity hardware, firmware, development tools, and reference designs, for their application. The portfolio includes the nRF9160 low power System-in-Package (SiP) with integrated LTE-M/NB-IoT modem and GPS, the nRF5340 System-on-Chip (SoC), the world’s first dual Arm Cortex-M33 processor wireless SoC, as well as the nRF52833 SoC, a fully-featured short range wireless solution that supports Bluetooth 5.1 Direction Finding.
