Why did we choose Nordic?
The nRF52840 SoC was the ideal balance between size, power consumption and performance … in addition to the product itself, the communication and technical support from the Nordic team were very helpful and encouraging for us as a startup. obiWAN relies on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF9160 SiP’s processing power, on both the cellular and GNSS radios, on all its security features, its very low power consumption, and its interfaces and peripherals. Our development team is familiar with Nordic’s excellent technical support and information, forum discussions, development tools, and the high level of expertise from the Nordic engineering team. Sensry chose Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52840 for its Kallisto SY021-PCB multi-sensor module primarily due to the SoC’s extremely power efficient implementation, but also the available Bluetooth front end and the Zephyr RTOS support. We also selected the Nordic nPM1100 for power management due to the PMIC’s high integration with the battery charger and all required DC/DC converters. In addition, we have been able to rely on the excellent design-in support, the Nordic DevZone forum, and the availability of direct, competent discussion partners at Nordic.
