Lead sponsor Nordic to host workshop and join panel at Hackster.io virtual event on accelerating innovation to monitor the planet’s air and water supply

Nordic Semiconductor is the lead sponsor of the 2022 Hackster Impact Summit, a free two-day virtual event dedicated to inspiring developers, connecting organizations, and accelerating technological innovation in the name of global sustainability. This year's topic targets initiatives that measure, monitor and protect our earth's air and water supply.

Launched by Hackster.io (an Avnet community), the inaugural Impact Summit to be held on October 11-12, 2022, will feature workshop, demo, panel discussion and project spotlight opportunities for sharing initiatives that target air and water sustainability around the globe. Participants will learn how to build IoT solutions that measure, monitor and report on air and water resources in their local communities.

During the Impact Summit, on Wednesday, October 12, Nordic will join a panel discussion at 9:00AM PT and host a workshop at 9:55AM PT.

The panel, ‘Crossing the Chasm: A Discussion on Scaling Sustainable Practices and Strategies to Lead Impact in Organizations’, will bring together representatives from leading technology and conservation partners—including Nordic, Microsoft, Arm, and the UN Development Programme—to discuss how their organizations have adopted sustainable mindsets in how they build products, expand their customer base, and contribute towards more meaningful technology evolution. Thomas Søderholm, VP of Business Development, Nordic Semiconductor, will be joining the panel.

The workshop, ‘Build Power-Efficient Mobile Weather Station With the Thingy:91’, will address the growing need to monitor our surroundings for a healthy and sustainable world in the face of global warming and environmental challenges. In the workshop, Nordic will teach developers how to create a power-efficient mobile weather station using the Nordic Thingy:91 cellular IoT prototyping platform. Participants will make use of the low power benefits of LwM2M, an application-level protocol specially designed for low-power data usage that can make an application run for years. Didrik Rokhaug, Application Engineer, Nordic Semiconductor, will host this workshop session, where three participants will be given a Thingy:91.

Registration is currently open for Hackster’s Impact Summit, livestreaming October 11-12. Participants will be able to attend free workshops, watch tech demos, and tune in to conversations with tech giants and global organizations as they discuss how they’ve adapted and scaled with #Tech4Good as their strategic priority.

“Through this partnership with Hackster and our significant presence at the Impact Summit, Nordic is demonstrating its continued support of #Tech4Good and sustainability initiatives, in line with our commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” says Søderholm.

Nordic has previously supported both the COVID-19 Detect and Protect Challenge and Elephant Edge, in addition to two community contests with a ‘tech for good’ focus – Advanced Wearables for a Healthy World and Smarter Sustainable World Challenge.
