Nordic Semiconductor today announces that it has been named the most ‘Outstanding EMEA [Europe, Middle East, and Africa] Semiconductor Company’ by the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) during the GSA’s official 2015 Awards ceremony hosted in the U.S. at Santa Clara, California, last night.

A GSA Award is widely considered one of the most respected and prestigious awards a semiconductor company can win within the global semiconductor industry.

The GSA is a 400 member company-strong, non-profit international trade organization headquartered in the U.S. with offices in Asia and Europe, and its annual Awards include an on-line voting process that allows GSA members themselves, including semiconductor companies and partners, to cast a ballot for the public semiconductor company they most respect.

“To date, this is probably the highest independent recognition of the success Nordic Semiconductor has achieved as a company,” comments Nordic CEO, Svenn-Tore Larsen. “I am immensely proud that Nordic has won this award and immensely proud of every single member of this company that has worked so hard to make such an achievement possible.”

Larsen continues: “Nordic Semiconductor has always put its customers and technology first, and spent years pioneering the ultra low power wireless category long before it evolved into such globally recognized wireless technologies as Bluetooth Smart today.

“And what’s really exciting is that I genuinely believe this is still just the start for Nordic Semiconductor and ultra low power wireless technology in general. There is a wireless revolution taking over the world called the Internet of Things and Nordic Semiconductor and its wireless technology is sitting right in the middle of it.”

The GSA says its Awards are designed to identify the company garnering the most respect from the industry in terms of its products, vision, and future opportunities within their respective Award sales categories. In addition, the GSA says profitability and market capitalization, among other financial and product successes, are considered as part of its shortlisting and winner selection process.

The GSA’s stated mission is to “accelerate the growth and increase the return on invested capital of the global semiconductor industry by fostering a more effective ecosystem through collaboration, integration, and innovation”.
