Exciting new features in nRF Connect SDK v1.8

nRF Connect SDK is Nordic's software development kit for developing both Bluetooth® Low Energy, Bluetooth® mesh, Thread, Zigbee, Matter and cellular IoT applications. nRF Connect SDK is a scalable solution that supports our nRF52, nRF53 and nRF91 Series.

In this webinar, Bjørn, Krzysztof and Martin will give a short introduction to the nRF Connect SDK, followed by the exciting new features in this latest release.

Date: January 19

Time: 9:00 AM CET / 04:00 PM CST Asia & 9:00 PM CET / 12:00 PM PDT

Duration: 45 min plus 15 min live Q&A

The recording is now available on-demand:

Some highlights include:

  • Experimental support for running the Bluetooth® LE Host and Bluetooth® LE Controller on the nRF5340 SoC in the network core with a full Bluetooth® LE Host API to the application core.
  • Experimental support for using any nRF52 Series SoC as a Bluetooth® LE network processor with a full Bluetooth® LE Host API to an external MCU.
  • Experimental support for Periodic Advertising in our SoftDevice Controller (i.e. Nordic's Bluetooth LE Controller). Periodic Advertising is a key feature for connectionless Bluetooth® Direction Finding and Bluetooth® LE Audio broadcast.
  • Support for 3-wire Packet Traffic Arbitration (PTA) interface in the nRF52 Series SoCs. 3-wire PTA is a common coexistence interface used by Wi-Fi radios.
  • Experimental support for 1-wire PTA interface on the nRF52 Series, which is specifically designed as a coexistance interface for the nRF9160 SiP.
  • Warning messages are now generated in the build output if any experimental features (Kconfig symbols) are enabled.
  • The Apple HomeKit repository has been updated to ADK v6.1 and is integrated with nRF Connect SDK v1.8. HomeKit over Bluetooth® LE and HomeKit over Thread are now supported on the nRF5340 SoC.
  • Support for Gazell, a proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless protocol, on all nRF52 Series SoCs.
