ANT Adds Wireless in Garmin's Edge at Interbike

September 29, 2005 (Las Vegas)-  ANT enables wireless communication within Garmin's new EdgeTM line of products being featured on the world stage this week at North America's largest bicycle trade event, Interbike.

Introduced to the mass market in March 2005, ANT proves to be an easy to integrate, ultra-low power protocol for personal area network applications such as the Garmin Edge 305HR and 305CAD.

The Edge products are a line of GPS-enabled integrated personal training systems for recreational and competitive cyclists.  The Edge accurately monitors data such as pedaling cadence, heart rate, vertical profiles, altitude, speed, distance and time.

Garmin, a leader in the GPS market, needed a low power, low cost wireless solution to network heart rate and cadence information to the device mounted on the stem or handlebars of the bicycle.

"We chose ANT, a robust wireless technology developed by Dynastream Innovations Inc. to meet our wireless connectivity objectives.   ANT eliminates cross-talk and interference and delivers real-time data to ensure responsive feedback to the athlete," said Gary Kelley, Garmin's Vice President of Marketing.

Edge has been configured to be a participant of the ANT Sport Network which provides a common base network for interoperability of sport instrumentation systems.

"Garmin is another world leader in its field that has chosen ANT network technology for its products," said Vicki Brilz, Chief Commercial Officer of Dynastream Innovations Inc.  "ANT Sport network provides benefits all around as it allows manufacturers to build their strategy and concentrate on their core product value."

ANT is a 2.4 GHz wireless personal area network technology targeting micro-watt power and low-cost in miniature application environments.

Interbike is being held in Las Vegas from September 28-30.
